Faking feelings at work isn't worth it.




Forcing yourself to smile through the rage will get the best of you, bringing you closer to burnout, reports BBC Capital. Instead of hiding your true feelings, sociologist Arlie Hochschild recommends that you practice “deep acting,” which involves deliberately changing the way you feel about the situation and working to identify with the other person’s point of view. Such an approach can lighten your emotional load and broaden your perspective.
